Hello I’m Kenyen Hicks

A Native American from the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe. I was born in Fallon NV, where I went to high school and community college graduating with an AA in 2019. In 2021 I found out about the graphic design program and left the UNR electrical engineering major to pursue my passion. I have always created art or doodles wherever and whenever I could and I saw this as another outlet to express myself and a potential career. After a few semesters, I knew this is what I wanted to do. Through my academic journey I learned many design and 3D modeling programs leading to skills that have opened up so many creative avenues aligned with my interests. I’ve also run into problems that have led me to become a problem solver and ultimately have helped me refine my creative process and stylistic designs.

Since a young age, I’ve been told to take care of the environment, leading to an interest in wildlife and land conservation. I pull inspiration from outdoor magazines and pamphlets that incorporate attention catching details and drawings. Inspired by my childhood and the community I grew up in, my designs are illustration based. Hand drawing and transferring images to a digital space is a fun process for me and gives each drawing its own unique characteristics..
